The free-fix promise If a CHAS assessor knocks back a document we generated, send us their feedback and we fix it free. That covers our documents — not missing real-world items like insurance or training certificates, and we'll tell you plainly which is which.

2. The work you do

This decides which risk assessments and COSHH assessments your pack gets. It's the one thing we can't guess.

Main trade * These six have full trade content built. Anything else we build to the same structure — say what you do and we'll confirm the timing before you pay. Which CHAS level? most tenders mean Standard Standard is health & safety. Advanced and Elite cover more risk areas and their packs carry more documents — the price steps with it. How many people work for you? including you Below five, a written policy isn't a legal requirement but CHAS still expects your arrangements documented. At five or more it is required, and the policy is written accordingly.

What does a normal job look like? * Two or three sentences. This is what stops the risk assessments reading like generic waffle — mention the heights, the kit, the sites. Describe one real job you've done in the last 12 months This is the one that wins Criterion 10. Assessors want a risk assessment and method statement for an actual project within the last 12 months, not a folder of generic ones. Give us a real job and we write the RAMS to it.

3. Two things we can't write for you Who gives you health and safety advice when you need it? SSIP Core Criterion 3 wants a named person or firm with a formal qualification — often an external consultant, or something included with a trade body membership. If you haven't got one, say so — the pack will flag it and tell you the cheapest way to sort it. It's the item that most reliably holds an application up. Are you ever the principal contractor on a job? Only matters if you run jobs start to finish, which brings extra duties under CDM 2015 and extra sections in your pack.

4. What you've already got

Rough guess is fine, and "no" is a perfectly normal answer to all of them. It tells the gap analysis what to chase you for.

Do you already hold another SSIP scheme? SMAS, Constructionline, Acclaim… Worth saying. There's a Deemed to Satisfy route that recognises an assessment you've already passed and makes this a much smaller job. We'll tell you if it applies rather than take the fee quietly. Anything else we should know?

5. Terms

The short version — the full terms are three minutes long and worth reading:

Priced by team size and CHAS level — Standard £149/£195/£245, Advanced £245/£295/£345, Elite £345/£395/£445 — paid up front. Launch pricing, one-off, for the documents listed on this page.
Delivered within one working day of your payment clearing — or of your answering anything we have to come back to you on.
Refundable in full until we start generating. After that the work is done and it isn't — that's where the whole fee sits.
Free-fix promise: if an assessor knocks back a document we generated, send us their feedback and we fix it free. That covers our documents, not missing insurance, training or certificates — and we'll say plainly which one you're looking at.
You submit the application yourself. We don't file it, and we don't deal with the assessor for you — that's the done-for-you service, from £295.
We build your documents, you check and sign them — they become your documents, so read them.
We don't guarantee a pass — nobody honestly can.
Legal responsibility for health and safety stays with you. An accreditation doesn't change that and neither do we.
